Connecting Deaf Families and children of deaf adults To Resources

Dear CODA Connections Supporters,

We invite you to join us in making a meaningful impact on the lives of Deaf families in the Triad area of North Carolina. CODA Connections Inc., founded by Tabitha Allen-Draft, is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Children of Deaf Adults (CODA) and Deaf families through a variety of programs and services.

Our Mission: CODA Connections unites Deaf families and children with critical resources to help them thrive and reach their fullest potential. From financial assistance to educational workshops, mentorship programs, advocacy, and interpreting services, we function as a holistic resource for Deaf families. We bridge the communication gap between the Deaf and hearing worlds, offering support for daily essentials, emergency assistance, and more.

How Your Donation Helps: Your generous donations directly contribute to events, financial assistance, and essential resources for the Deaf community in Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem and surrounding Triad area. These funds will empower us to organize educational workshops, mentorship programs through CODA Mentoring, and engaging community events that foster self-confidence and promote physical activity.

Why We're Needed: We believe that all children, regardless of hearing ability, benefit from a strong sense of community, belonging, and social connection. By supporting CODA Connections, you help Deaf children and their families thrive, recognize their uniqueness and celebrate their identity. Our mission is twofold: to connect and support CODA children and offer resources to Deaf parents.

Who we are

CODA (Children of Deaf Adults) Connections Inc. was founded by Tabitha Allen-Draft, the only hearing person in an all-Deaf family. Growing up amid generations of Deaf family members, including her parents, grandparents and a younger sister, Tabitha gained a profound understanding of and passion for the Deaf and CODA communities. CODA Connections unites Deaf families and children to critically needed resources to help all thrive and achieve their greatest potential. In addition to financial and resource support, the organization provides educational workshops, mentorship, advocacy, workforce development, peer group engagement and interpreting services. CODA Connections functions as a holistic resource for Deaf families, administering programs and services to help bridge the communication divide between the Deaf and hearing worlds.

what we do

Crisis Assistance

We help Deaf families and their children manage the essentials of daily life, such as emergency rent and utility assistance, clothing, household goods, furniture, food, hygiene products and cleaning supplies.

CODA Mentoring

We unite Children of Deaf Adults with compassionate mentors who can provide support, guidance and opportunities to help CODA mentees succeed in life and meet their goals.

Community Awareness and Events

We bring Deaf individuals and families together through a series of engaging social and community events that promote physical activity, foster self-confidence and enhance emotional well-being. Connecting Deaf families and children of Deaf adults to their community is empowering, educational and provides opportunities to enlighten the hearing community about Deaf awareness, inclusion, and advocacy.

why we're needed

All children – those who hear, those who don’t, and those who live with non-hearing adults – benefit from a strong sense of community, belonging, self-identity and social connection. We want the children of Deaf adults to recognize the uniqueness and sense of unity that comes with being part of a multicultural family and community – and to understand and celebrate their identity.

Our mission is twofold: First, we strive to connect and support children of Deaf adults through peer group interaction, cultural enrichment programs, mentoring and educational opportunities. Secondly, we offer Deaf parents a range of resources and services to enhance parenting skills and assist in times of need.
